Description & Process

You may be entitled to a FREE eye test and you could also be entitled to a voucher towards the cost of your glasses if you meet certain criteria listed below. Please contact us if you think that you qualify.

Under the age of 16
Between ages 16-18 and in full time education
Aged 60 and over*
Receive income support
Receive universal credit
Income based job seekers allowance
Income related employment and support allowance
Tax credit or named on a valid tax credit exemption certificate (or if you are named on a valid HC2 certificate)
Registered bind/partially sighted with local authority*
Suffer from diabetes or glaucoma*
Are 40 or over and parent/sibling/child of a person who has glaucoma*
Considered a risk of glaucoma by an ophthalmologist*
Have been prescribed complex lenses under the NHS optical voucher scheme*

* Free sight test only. Unless any other entitlement also applies.

Barnham Opticians are fantastic. I had an eye exam and chose a new pair of spectacles today. The eye exam was thorough and options to improve my sight were also discussed. The spectacle choice is vast and varied but with the expert help of Mandy I was able to chose the right pair for me. The whole experience was relaxed and I was offered a coffee and biscuits thought the process! All of the staff were fantastic. I look forward to receiving my new spectacles soon!!! Thank you x

My first experience of an eye test at Barnham Opticians and I would definitely recommend them, as the customer service was second to none. I was greeted with a lovely smile from Kate the receptionist and Simon the Optometrist was very professional. My glasses were dispensed by Sue who again was extremely helpful and professional. Please help support our independent businesses. Will certainly be returning.

As it was near to where I live and on a local bus route thought I would give it a try. I have tried most opticians in the local towns and further a field, but have had problems with all of them for over 40yesrs. Having to go backwards and forwards because of unable to see properly out of new glasses. Here the staff were very friendly, the eye examination was very through. The new glasses fitted perfectly and I could see perfectly, amazing. Yep 5 stars for Barnham Opticians
